The Arizona Center for Innovation at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park has admitted
four startup companies into its fall Mentored Launch Program.
The new clients are:
* DemeteRx Pharmaceuticals, an early−stage biotechnology company developing human cancer therapeutics
derived from natural products.
* D'Mention Systems, which is developing a software system to coordinate student activities.
* Legionnaire Credit Solutions LLC, which is developing an innovative solution to help customers improve
their credit scores.
* Puretex Hygienics, which is working to develop and make eco−friendly personal−care products, including
personal wipes, baby diapers and cosmetic applicators.
The Mentored Launch program helps startup companies through a series of workshops, seminars and

Tucson tech firms, solar site among award finalists

A Tucson electronics company, a local tech startup and a solar-demonstration area at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park and IBM Corp. are among the finalists for the 2012 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Awards.

Several Southern Arizona teachers and students also will be honored at the awards ceremony in November, according to an announcement today by the Arizona Technology Council in conjunction with the Arizona Commerce Authority.

Tucson Embedded Systems and the Solar Zone at the UA Tech Park are among three finalists for the Green Innovator of the Year award. EquiSight LLC, a startup developing a real-time video system for horse racing, is a finalist for Innovator of the Year-Start-Up Company, while IBM in Tucson is up for the Innovator of the Year award for large companies.
