What is a business incubator?
A business incubator is a common location that offers support to a variety of startup companies. Incubators often provide office space as well as assistance with company development. Other features that many incubators provide include mentoring, networking services, and programs to help start a business. The National Business Incubator Association (NBIA) provides information on local and national incubators, as AzCI offers office space and business development support, along with a wide variety of programs to help new companies get started. How can my company join AzCI?

To join AzCI, you will need to provide the following:

  • Company business concept
  • Disclosure of any and all business partners, Intellectual Property, and company status
  • Willingness to meet all benchmarks as defined by AzCI management in producing a business plan, identifying funding sources, defining company structure / formation, and developing an operational plan for the company’s first year of operations.

Where is AzCI located?

AzCI is located at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park, on I-10 and Rita Road. We are in building 9040, Suite 1100. Mapquest

What business services are offered to AzCI clients?
• Office space and basic furnishings
• Secure phone services
• High speed wireless Internet access
• Access to photocopier, excluding the cost of copies
• Access to fax, excluding the cost of long distance faxes
• Administrative support
• Mailing address, including mail collection and distribution
• Two shared conference rooms and access to presentation equipment (projector, screen)
• Access to AzCI’s business programs (link to programs page) and mentoring services


What is the difference between and affiliate client and a full service client?

Affiliate clients have a shared office space for a lower monthly fee, and typically do not have laboratory space. Full service clients receive a private office and laboratory space. Both types of clients have access to the AzCI program offerings, events, and mentor connections.

What laboratory services are available for AzCI clients?
• Laboratory bench, including hood
• Chemical safety storage cabinet
• Gas connections
• DI water
• Level 2 Biohazard facility
• Secure area, accessible 24/7 to laboratory personnel
• On-site
• Dry lab office area with wireless Internet service
• Biohazard pickup service (extra fee may apply)

What do I need to do to set up a laboratory at AzCI?
1. Contact us to learn how to become a client and to review the AzCI laboratory contract.
2. Assemble a complete list of your required laboratory chemicals. Submit this list to AzCI staff for approval.
3. Prepare a lab manual and MSDS chemical safety book for your laboratory.
4. Obtain business and laboratory insurance.

What is the cost for utilities at AzCI?
Electricity and water are included in the monthly office and laboratory rental fees. AzCI offices also include a phone line and wireless Internet access.

What are the hours for AzCI?
AzCI office hours are 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. All AzCI clients will receive a key to for their company’s office and an I.D. card to gain access to the building outside of regular business hours.
