What is AzCI?
The Arizona Center for Innovation (AzCI) is a technology
based business incubator, supporting start-up companies
that fall into the six technology industry clusters
of Southern Arizona: optics/photonics, biotechnology
and life sciences, information technology, aerospace,
environmental technologies and advanced composite
materials.
How does AzCI support
start-up companies?
AzCI will provide business development consulting
consisting of weekly meetings with AzCI management
staff as well as an assigned mentor. Each company
will be required to have one or more of its representatives
(up to 3) in residence for a combined total of 10
hours a week. While in residence each company is responsible
for furthering the development of their business.
The AzCI will offer the following office services
to its client companies:

use of office space and furniture

The
use of secure phone services excluding local and
long distance phone calls
-
High
speed internet access
-
Access
to photocopier, excluding the cost of copies
-
Access
to fax, excluding the cost of long distance faxes
-
Administrative
support
-
Mailing
address, including mail collection and distribution
-
Shared
conference room and presentation equipment (projector,
screen) available
Note:
Each company is required to provide its own computer
equipment while in residence.

AzCI also has both wet and dry lab
space available for its client companies.
How can my company join
AzCI?
To join the AzCI, you will need to have a technology
company in one of the six key technology areas supported
by the incubator (optics/photonics, biotechnology
and life sciences, information technology, aerospace,
environmental technologies and advanced composite
materials). You will also need to provide the following
to AzCI:

Company
business concept
-
Disclosure
of any and all business partners, Intellectual Property
and status of the company
-
Willingness
to meet all benchmarks as defined by AzCI management
in producing the following deliverables:

Draft
business plan
-
Identification
of funding source
-
Definition
of company structure and formation
-
Development
of an operational plan that contains milestones,
goals, objectives and basic strategy for the company’s
first year of operations
Each
company will be required to participate with at least
one (and up to three) representatives in the Commercial
Reality Mentored Launch
or Start-Up programs,
which include sessions on company formation, intellectual
property, feasibility of your product or service,
building a business model, building your financials,
and presentation skills, in addition to many other
